About Wildnoise
Wildnoise is an independently developed soundscape app. Contact us through the support form, including for a privacy or deletion request. The app is being prepared for public release. Data-handling details below describe the current implementation; App Store privacy disclosures will be finalized for the released version.
Your saved soundscapes
No separate Wildnoise account is required. Saved mixes, photo mixes, notes, preferences and local listening history stay on your device. There is no promised Wildnoise cloud sync. Device backups follow your system settings. Deleting the app removes its local container, but does not also delete independently managed backups.
Audio downloads
The app bundles a starter collection. Other recordings download from Cloudinary when requested, and are cached for offline use. The CDN receives connection information, including your IP address and requested asset URL. Sound downloads do not include your photos, coordinates, notes or full listening history. Cached audio uses local storage and is excluded from device cloud backups. Provider operational-log retention is being reviewed before public app release.
Optional photo recognition
You can use on-device recognition, or allow a smaller photo without embedded location or EXIF metadata to be sent through our Cloudflare service to Workers AI. Cloud uploads require permission. Our service does not save uploaded image contents or log those contents; Cloudflare’s operational and security processing is governed by its own policies. When the cloud service is unavailable, recognition falls back to your device. Withdrawing permission stops future uploads; a request already in progress may finish. Delete saved photo mixes in Yours to remove those local copies.
Optional microphone and weather
Nearby sound analysis runs on your iPhone for three seconds, with your microphone permission. It does not save or upload the recording. Where Follow local weather is available and enabled, approximate rounded coordinates are used with Apple WeatherKit. Wildnoise does not save coordinates or request background location. Without a current observation, the app shows an authored atmosphere, not a local forecast.
Optional Popular contributions
Contributions are off by default. If you enable them, qualified sound identifiers, a UTC day, a random daily token and a request identifier are sent to our Cloudflare ranking service. Photos, notes, account details, coordinates and exact listening durations are not included. The ranking uses the last 28 days. Older deduplication records currently have no automatic deletion schedule. Disabling contributions stops future submissions and clears unsent entries; an in-flight request may finish. Popular can be viewed without contributing.
Membership
Apple handles payment details, purchases, refunds and subscription management. Wildnoise verifies membership using StoreKit on your device and does not receive payment-card details. Purchases and restoring membership use your Apple Account. Subscription availability and actual terms are shown by Apple when products are available.
This website and support form
The website is hosted in the operator’s Cloudflare account. Hosting providers process connection information to serve and secure the site. We have added no advertising pixels, third-party analytics SDK or marketing cookies.
When you submit the support form, we store the email address you enter, your chosen topic, message, reference, submission time and consent version in the site’s Cloudflare D1 database. These are used to respond to the request, follow up and prevent repeated submissions. They are not added to a newsletter. Do not include passwords, payment information or sensitive images.
Support messages are kept while needed to handle the request and follow-up. Deletion is currently handled manually, rather than by an automatic retention schedule. Use the support form to request deletion and include your reference when possible. No public message inbox is provided.
Service providers and your controls
Apple, Cloudflare and Cloudinary process information under their own terms. We do not use Wildnoise data for cross-app advertising or sell photos or listening history. Change the app’s photo, weather and contribution choices in Settings; iOS controls camera, microphone and location permissions. Depending on your location, you may have additional privacy rights. Contact the operator through the support form to discuss your request.
